Christian summer camps at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ like GO TELL Ministries provided plenty of fun and faithful service for youngsters throughout the Southeast.

ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ marked the conclusion of another successful Christian summer camp season in July that saw 38 students respond to the Gospel, 46 rededicate their lives to Christ and 25 receive a calling to the ministry.

Additionally, approximately 1,200 campers and their adult sponsors contributed over 15,000 hours of volunteer service to the Jackson metropolitan area.

Youngsters from throughout the Southeast flocked to the Clinton campus this summer to participate in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership (HOBY) International camp, the Lifeway-sponsored Centri-Fuge and Mission Fuge combination camps, and Super Summer, the Southern Baptist Convention’s camp for emerging student leaders.

MC also welcomed a new Christian camp partner to its summer lineup: GO TELL Camp. Sponsored by Go Tell Ministries, a Gospel-centered organization based in Duluth, Georgia, that seeks to fulfill Christ’s Great Commission in the 21st century, GO TELL Camp provided an outlet for leading Christian authorities to share God’s Word with youth.

“The Gospel was preached, Gospel invitations were given and students were equipped to share the Gospel with others,” said Shane Pruitt, national next-gen director for the North American Mission Board.

For more than 30 years, tens of thousands of students and their leaders have worshipped alongside dedicated, passionate artists at GO TELL Camps at sites like ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ, Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and Shocco Springs in Talladega, Alabama – GO TELL’s 2025 host venues.

According to Becca Aldrich of GO TELL Ministries, several churches from throughout ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ who partner with her organization on GO TELL Crusades in the region sent youth groups to the GO TELL Camp at MC.

Among those groups was Truitt Baptist Church in Pearl. Anna Bigby, youth director at Truitt, has taken groups to GO TELL Camps before, but she considered it a blessing to have this year’s camp close to home. Not only did her students enjoy activities and Christian instruction, but they also had an opportunity to see what life is like on a Christian university campus.

“Our kids are probably not going to travel 15 hours away from home to go to college,” Bigby said. “But there is a large possibility they could stay home and go to ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ.

“I wanted to give them the experience of not only the GO TELL Camp, but also the MC campus, because it is a realistic option for them when they graduate high school.”

The camp welcomed children from seventh grade through twelfth grade.

Bigby said members of her youth group enjoyed participating in the camp’s recreational activities and worship services.

“Camp is exhausting for everyone,” she said with a laugh, “but they enjoyed it. We were excited to worship and learn more about God.”
