MC Psychology and Social Work faculty welcome Milner; Cooper joins MC School of Nursing faculty

Rebecca Milner, a licensed professional counselor with a private practice in Ridgeland, and Monica Cooper, a registered nurse with two decades of clinical service, have joined the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ faculty full-time after serving as adjunct instructors at MC.
Milner, a provider of licensed therapeutic and counseling services to clients in Colorado and ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ, has been named an instructor in MC’s Department of Psychology and Social Work. Cooper, a seasoned nursing professional who has practiced in Brookhaven, Meadville and Jackson, has been named an instructor in the School of Nursing.
Michael Mann, professor and chair of psychology at MC, said Milner will teach many of the department’s Introduction to Psychology sections and Developmental Psychology sections and will advise psychology majors.
“Our students and our campus will benefit from having Rebecca here as an instructor because of her valuable experiences and training,” Mann said. “In her clinical work, Rebecca has counseled teenagers, young adults, adults and groups. She has provided counseling services to those who suffer depression, various anxiety disorders, PTSD, personality disorders and eating disorders.”
Milner received her B.S. in psychology from ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ and her M.A. in clinical mental health from Denver Seminary in Littleton, Colorado. After completing her clinical counseling internship at Colorado Christian University, she provided therapeutic and counseling services as a behavioral health clinician at Allhealth Network in Littleton and Highland Ranch, Colorado. She entered private practice in Littleton and, upon moving to Clinton, continued her practice in Ridgeland.
Kelly Harden, dean of the MC School of Nursing, said Cooper will teach medical-surgical content to undergraduate students.
“We are blessed to have Monica join us full-time,” Harden said. “She brings a variety of clinical knowledge and skills with her.
“Monica’s passion lies with patients who suffer from chronic kidney disease, especially those undergoing dialysis. She is committed to the integration of faith in her teaching and will be an asset to the School of Nursing and MC in our commitment to the cause of Christ.”
A resident of Terry, Cooper obtained her associate’s degrees from Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Southwest ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ Community College. She served as a staff RN at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Meadville, Fresenius Medical Care in Brookhaven, and ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
While serving as a nurse hospitalist at Baptist Medical Center and a neuro-hospitalist at the University of ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ Medical Center, Cooper earned her B.S. in nursing at Delta State University. She joined Fresenius Kidney Care as clinical care coordinator and was promoted to program director and clinical manager of home therapies. She obtained her M.S. in nursing, summa cum laude, from the University of ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ Medical Center and is an active member of the American Nurses Association, the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ Nurses Association, the Magnolia Chapter of the American Nephrology Nurses Association, and the Theta Beta Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
